I think the general idea is to create an emotional test that is very special and totally different from the many existing films where very prominent drivers are testing just cars, taking them to the limit and reacting after it how nice it was.

Visto che si tratta di uno spot pubblicitario, immagino si riferisca a quello che anche in italiano si chiama trattamento, cioè un passaggio intermedio fra il soggetto e la sceneggiatura vera e propria (vedi i link). A me però "director's" sembra ridondante, visto che dopo c'è il nome del regista, quindi lo ometterei.
