Translation - English The fiscal year ending in March 2005 marked the first time that consolidated net sales of our corporate group surpassed 1 trillion yen. Our international sales marked 30% growth, double that of the 15.4% growth of domestic sales. International sales is becoming increasingly important for our consolidated net sales. Our overseas operations can be divided into local production and product exports. We will be focusing future expansions around local production.
Globalizing our operations is essential for the future growth of the corporation. Our operations in South East Asia are now entering a growth trajectory. Therefore, we are making further capital investment in these countries to improve profit-earning capacity. Financial resources gained from these markets and from Japan, where the business is performing well, will be allocated to EU countries as well as other growing markets to establish future bases of operation.
We were able to return our profits to shareholders at this juncture in the form of increased dividends. We are committed to delivering profit returns to our shareholders as we profit, and continuing to deliver stable, long-term profit returns.

Source text - Japanese 交通計画をはじめとする土木計画の策定の際、多数の個人の細やかな行動や意識などを把握し、実際の事業や施策に役立てるために、アンケート調査が重要な役割を担う。しかし、そういった調査の信頼性、一般性を確保するためには、調査の回答率を向上させることが必要である。すなわち、調査対象となる人々の協力（以下、調査協力行動）を十分に誘発する必要がある。本研究では、“人々の調査協力行動への内発的動機”に着目し、いくつかの社会心理学理論を援用しつつ、調査協力行動に影響を及ぼす種々の要因を理論的、実証的に明らかにすることを目的とする。
Translation - English When formulating transportation plans, such as infrastructure plans, questionnaires surveys play an important role by ascertaining the detailed behaviors and mindsets of a multitude of individuals, which can then be used for actual operation and policies. However, in order to obtain the reliability and generality of such survey research, improving the response rate of the survey becomes necessary. In other words, there is a need to sufficiently induce the cooperation of people who form the research targets (hereinafter, “research cooperative behavior”). The purpose of this paper is to clarify various factors that exert influence on research cooperative behavior theoretically and empirically by focusing on the intrinsic motivation of people toward research cooperative behavior while employing various social psychological theories.
The motivation for behavior is one of the major topics in behavioral theory in psychology. Regarding this, Deci proposed an intrinsic motivation theory which categorizes behavior motivation into intrinsic and extrinsic motivations. Extrinsic motivation is motivation that is driven by external reward. Intrinsic motivation signifies motivation that exists despite there being no explicit reward. Therefore, strategies that aim to change people’s behavior can be categorized into strategies that aim to drive intrinsic motivation and ones that aim to drive extrinsic motivation. This classification is defined in Previous Research (2). This also applies to structural strategies (strategies that aim to change behavior by changing the environment of behavior) and psychological strategies (strategies that aim to change behavior by working on people’s psychological factors). It goes without saying that the strategies that work on extrinsic motivation are structural strategies, and the strategies that work on intrinsic motivation are psychological strategies.
Structural strategies are probably the ones that have been employed frequently in planning such as transportation planning in the past. For example, transportation demand management through road pricing and traffic speed improvement are both classified as structural strategies. However, Deci pointed out that such structural strategies have a strong effect in decreasing intrinsic motivation, which he confirmed through several experiments. Thereafter, this effect has been repeatedly confirmed by many research studies. In other words, it has been demonstrated empirically that the more specific rewards are used, such as money, to gain people’s cooperative behavior, cooperative behavior instead decreases in a situation where there is no reward.

Source text - Japanese 現状の財政投融資制度は、2001年4月から抜本的に改められることになっている。本論文の目的は、財政投融資制度の変革が、わが国のマクロ的な資金循環および実物経済に対してどのような影響を及ぼすかを理論的に分析し、そのシミュレーションを行うことである。
Translation - English The current Fiscal Investment and Loan Program is set to be drastically revised in April 2001. The purpose of this paper is to analyze theoretically how the reformation of the Fiscal Investment and Loan Program will impact the macroeconomic flow of funds and on the real economy in Japan, and to conduct a simulation thereof.
Fiscal investment and loans in the past have been directed into areas such as the loan of long-term funds for key industries (so-called policy-based finance), social infrastructure development such as highway networks and housing loans. In recent years, however, there have been increasing criticisms toward fiscal investment and loans such as the pressuring of private businesses (i.e., competitions with the private financial institution’s financing areas) and the decline in efficiency (i.e., financing of low-profitability projects without the consideration of potential for return).
Since the 1980s, the role of fiscal investment and loans has, by addressing private sector funding shortages and advancing social infrastructure, been shifting to activities such as credit enhancement for medium- and small-sized businesses (especially in periods of recession). The problem with the Fiscal Investment and Loan Program of the past lies in having only the postal savings and postal life insurance schemes, which form its funding base, expand in scale without consistency in the profitability of the Program's targets. Therefore, under the new Program that will start in April 2001, the points below will be revised to eliminate mismatches between the entrance and exit of fiscal investment and loan funds.
(a) The Fund Management Section will be abolished, with postal savings, postal life insurance, and pension funds managing their funds autonomously.
(b) After the abolition of the Fund Management Section, fiscal investment- and loan-related institutions will procure funding through the issuing of FILP bonds (equivalent to government bonds), FILP agency bonds (not government guaranteed), or government-guaranteed bonds.
The first feature of the analysis in this paper is its construction of an open macro model that explicitly considers the new fiscal investment and loan mechanisms beginning in April 2001, and its theoretical analysis that includes the effects of the Fiscal Investment and Loan Program reform on international financial flows. The second feature is its attempt to quantitatively analyze the effects of Fiscal Investment and Loan Program reform on the macro economy, via macro-econometric model simulation.
