Not really, as long as my laptop holds out and I can keep working even while back home for a seasonal visit. October and November were comparatively quiet for me, so I'm glad that I've now got a couple of translation jobs to keep me ticking over into the New Year.

I work mostly for the EU Institutions and they will be closed from the 17th December until the 6th January. So, it will be stress-free unless one of my other clients has an emergency…

Work normally peters out or someone wants a big project translated but the deadline is generous. This year I'm taking a full ten days' holiday to travel.

I've had work, but I've been able to pace it so that I won't feel rushed. I asked for a loose deadline on a large job that will be due after Christmas.

When my husband was working, his job was quite stressful at the end of the year. He was involved in stocktaking and year-end accounting between Christmas and New Year.

I decided I was not going to let myself be pushed that far. I have once or twice been pressed to take on extra work, and have squeezed in a whole month's work in December before the 23rd, plus occasionally a day or two after Christmas, but I finally decided there is more to life than work. Once I am booked, but not over-booked, I simply tell clients they can wait til the New Year.

Same thing. The volume of work does not seem to vary a lot. It's usually bad in January, though.
