I haven’t and never will work from my phone for many reasons, the main one being that I don’t have a smartphone…
I would not be able to do it at all. I have got a smart phone, but it's way too smart for me. I use it strictly for talking to family and seeing pictures of them. I don't even give the number to business connections.
Unless answering brief queries via email counts.

It was a 2-word translation, my laptop had just died and my desktop was playing up, so I just did it on my phone. I don't think I'd want to do more than a short sentence on my phone though because I need to see both source and target at the same time. In my volunteer work, I have to tell people not to write anything more than "please call, emergency" in text messages otherwise I get long-winded accounts of why they need my help and I can't stand having to scroll up and down ... and the mere thought is absurd for me, save for a couple of words
My students frequently do so.

Because I don't have a smart phone. Even if I had a smart phone, I wouldn't do translation from it at all. Because I hate doing translations from a phone. The screen of a smart phone is very, very small compared to the screens desktop and laptop computers. That is why.
It was long long time ago: a business in my hometown needed to contact someone in the United States, it was 1978 and I was still a student, at the time for calling the USA from Italy we needed to contact the national telephone company operator and wait for being connected, it was the Jurassic, really... Well it was more interpreting than translation but I like to share this with you

"Work on a translation" via my phone, no; occasionally provide a couple of sentence for a regular client, yes. Never will, for all the obvious reasons already stated by others.
Short traslation, a couple of words or sentence for steady clients, and help with tough terms when asked by teammates. Indirectly, to make hotspot for laptop in places with no Wi-Fi or cable connection, until I bought Mi-Fi with 100GB SIM. This was not the question, but without these I would miss/skip many projects when I am away from home (often).

Just translations of a couple of words. Or checking the client's version to see if it is correct. Usually by Whatsapp

Once, Fr>Ru, urgent, a sentence of 8 words, technical, while shopping ...;
I've done it several times, either because I wasn't home when I got the job, or because I had to lie down to rest my back but I didn't have time to stop working. It's not very comfortable, but it's doable for some kinds of documents. I'd love to have a mobile CAT tool so that I'd have access to my glossaries and TMs while translating on my phone.
