Translation related Jan 22, 2020

The last work-related event I attended was a seminar held by ITI a number of years ago. Since then I have joined the camp of those who don't regularly undertake CPD, as I have to admit that I found the seminar a bit too generalist in nature to be useful to me and there isn't anything sufficiently specialist on offer within a reasonable travelling distance to meet my needs.

never been Jan 22, 2020

I have never been to any work-related event, and I have never even met anybody work-related in person.

In over 15 years, my entire work-related human interaction has been digital (aside from three telephone conversations, which served to verify my identity, and aside from trusted family members, whom I occasionally pester with translation-related brain twisters when I meet them in the kitchen on a tea break).

The last event I attended was the Proz.com conference in Porto some years ago now. Proz.com doesn't organise in-person conferences anymore.

Do parties and pub meet-ups count? If so, translation-related.
Or should I count the art history lessons I attend? I attend out of personal interest but it is also a major specialist subject of mine.

In the first week of January 2020... Jan 22, 2020

... I attended an event organised for London Localisation Professionals. I learnt how localisation happens at Farfetch. It was really informative and already looking forward to the next one!
And before that, in November 2019, I attended an event organized by CIOL Interpreting Division.
