Russian term
Хождения апостолов
Russian to English
Social Sciences
Religion
This is a genre or series of writings during the early Christian period. I thought of using "Travels" or "Wanderings," but I'm wondering if there's an accepted scholarly term, similar to the use of "Vita" for Zhitie instead of simply "life."
Thanks in advance!
В апокрифических “Хождениях апостолов”, которые начали возникать во II-III вв., довольно много говорится о том, как ученики Христа жеребьевкой поделили между собой «весь мир» для будущей миссии.

Wanderings of the Apostles
Google "wanderings of the apostles"+baldwin - the first hit takes you to a book that talks about some apocrypha that was eventually given that title.

Comment: "Thank you - I decided to go with this variant since it was used in an academic (as opposed to faith-based) context."

This belief was also held by the sect of the “Manichaeans” and others, and is found in certain apocryphal writings, such as the Travels of the Apostles.

: yes, this is a general title; it may be called "acts, apocalypses and canons of apostles" or just christian apocrypha.

Acts or Journeys
If the series is a general description of the Apostles (i.e. not specifically their travels), then you might want to go with 'Acts' for recognition: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acts_of_the_Apostles
If it does focus on their travels, however, I'd suggest using 'Journeys,' as that's the term I remember encountering more so than others.

: journeys - the term is used in the Bible colleges studying the life of the Apostles, e.g. the 1st missionary journey of Apostle Paul etc.

: "The Acts of the Apostles" ("Деяния Апостолов") - входит в канон Библии и не является апокрифом

Never claimed it to be. I offered two options, depending on the asker's need.

Walking
Неоднократно встречала слово "walking"=хождения в соответствующем контексте, как и слово "acts" применительно к деяниям Апостолов.
