German term

rapportgenau

German to English Tech/Engineering Mechanics / Mech Engineering Slitter Rewinder
"Bei einem Mutterrollendurchmesser von 1.300 mm bietet der ein- und ausschwenkbare Vakuum-Klebetisch am Abwickler die nötige Hilfe beim rapportgenauen Verkleben zweier Bahnen, aber auch den nötigen Platz beim Einbringen der neuen Mutterrolle."

Talking about a slitter rewinder (or something along those lines). I can't make head or tail of rapportgenau and no dictionary seems to have heard of it. TIA for any light you can shed on yet another really obscure word.

Discussion

Rowan Morrell (asker) Aug 24, 2012:
I don't know anything about this technology either. In fact, I've been completely out of my depth with this particular text (which doesn't often happen to me), so I certainly won't be doing anything in this particular field again.

I don't know anything about this technology, so I don't know how you translate Bahnen, but doesn't it just mean "high-precision" in the sense that there's a precise relationship (Rapport) between the two?
