@MARK Is there an actual "daughter" involved? In Brazil, in verbal speech, people usually say "filha da p" to people of all genders, because it's easier, especially in Rio de Janeiro. The words just connect better when you speak. I don't know if that's the case, just thought this could help.

Unless you are determined to capture the offensive tone of the source, I would go with the toned-down "bastard", since you're right -- daughter of a bitch does not work as a substitute for son of a bitch.
