Discussion

Lisa Rosengard Nov 27, 2021:
It's explained that protests or disputes presented, with supporting evidence, are not welcomed by the Authority, while an officer at the Public Ministry requests confirmation of the intention to dispute the fines, in order to discourage disputes.
Emmanuella Nov 27, 2021:
Voilà pourquoi on demande l'intention de contester l'amende , cf.

I can see why you posted this. The bit I don't understand is "sollicite la confirmation de".
Barbara Cochran, MFA Nov 27, 2021:
What is the rest of the context? What follows "pour décourager ces contestations"? Otherwise I would say that the official from the ministry is asking for the confirmation to know if she or he should take any action, and in that case, to determine what action or actions or measures should and can be taken to discourage the challenges.
Lara Barnett (asker) Nov 27, 2021:
Contextual problem I understand the basic meaning of this, but I cannot see how it ftisinto the context, and would discourage objections.............?

Or "the intention to put up a challenge" against the action that has been taken, in the form of fines.
Note from asker:
Hi, so how does this fit into the context - how would it discourage objections?

Thanks, AT.
agree Jennifer Levey : As translations go, this is no less meaningful, nor more comprehensible, than the source text!

Thanks, Jennifer. It's never good when the source text seems to be, at least partially, gobbledygook!
