English term

A hollow cut by a stream

English to Japanese Art/Literary Poetry & Literature Short Story
Hi guys. I am translating a short story written by an Icelandic novelist, and am trying to figure out how to translate the next sentence into japanese.

This is a sentence that depicts about the location of the cabin that the main character of the story resides.

A hollow cut by a stream and some tall tress, mostly fir and birch, separated them from Margaret's parents house.

agree bluemagenta (X) : 北欧のフィヨルドなどは長い時間をかけて川が岸を削ってできた地形ですが、氷河ほど規模が大きくなくても川が周囲の土を削って窪みを形成した後、川自体は消滅したり流路を変えたりして残った窪んだ地形が各地にあります。こういう地形を指しているのではないかと想像します。
