GENERAL
Machines in the XXX range are of box frame salient-pole construction with brushless excitation, and a PMG for the AVR power supply.
All the items making up an XXX machine are fixed to the box frame, which is the main structural member. It carries the end brackets and bearings, the stator corepack and the cooler, which is mounted on top. The exciter and PMG stators are fixed to a bracket mounted on the end bracket at the NDE. Terminals are mounted off the frame, either all on one side or lines one side and neutrals on the other, as required. Accommodation for current transformers may be provided.

Termen verkar användas inom marin/sjöfart och översätts där med Autopilot för hydraulisk styrning. Men hur ska det översättas i detta sammanhang?

The stator core is built on a mandrel, clamped between two substantial circular endplates and welded together while still under compression with core bars on the outer surface of the laminations. This construction gives a very rigid assembly.
The corepack is wound with coils of the multi-turn diamond type in open slots. The main insulation consists of layers of film-backed reconstituted mica tape, on both the slot and endwinding portions. The endwindings are finished off with a layer of sealing tape to give a smooth surface, and braced as necessary.
