Hello,
I'm working on a short article about a film archive.
The sentence in question reads:
"Als Ausgangsmaterial diente ein von einer zeitgenössischen Nitratkopie
gezogenes 35mm Sicherungsstück."
My rendering at the moment is:
"An original nitrate print taken from a 35mm XXX served as source material."
I've no idea how to translate "gezogenes 35mm Sicherungsstück" in this context.
Maybe I'm not on the right track with "taken from".
Any input would be gratefully appreciated.

DCDM is an acronym for Digital Cinema Distribution Master. This is the final format of your film before the DCP is created.

In recent years, in order to serve the goals of access and preservation, the Library of Congress has been copying the paper rolls onto 35mm motion picture negative film. Next, a positive film print is made from the 35mm negative and this is transferred to Betacam SP videotape to produce the master for digitization...
The analog audio from the cylinders and discs were transferred to Digital Audio Tape (DAT) to produce a master source for digitization.

Das Paket besteht also aus einem ersten Sicherungsstück Film, ein
zweiten Sicherungsstück Film, eines Benutzungsstück Film und
einem Benutzungsstück Video. Dabei wird davon ausgegangen, dass
alle benannten Stücke dieses Paketes hinsichtlich ihres audiovisuellen
Inhaltes identisch sind und in Bezug auf ihre zeitliche Länge und
innere Ordnung soweit wie möglich der zu überliefernden Fassung
(in der Regel der Uraufführungsfassung) entsprechen. Weiter wird
davon ausgegangen, dass die Stücke zumindest auf die Filmmaterialien
bezogen nahezu gleiche, im Idealfall sich nur durch typische analoge
Kopierverluste unterscheidende Qualität der Aufzeichnung aufweisen...
Die Auswahl der Materialarten der Sicherungsstücke sollte sich
an den Gegebenheiten der Filmproduktion orientieren.
