German term

Zwischendiskussion

German to English Science Engineering (general) Kapitel in Doktorarbeiten, Masterarbeiten etc.
"Diskussion" ist auf Englisch "discussion" und folgt in einer akademischen Arbeit als Kapitel in der Regel auf das Kapitel mit der Beschreibung der Ergebnisse. Die Zwischendiskussion wird in die Ergebnisbeschreibung eingefügt, wenn ein Teil der Ergebnisse vorher separat diskutiert werden soll, um die Gesamtdiskussion übersichtlicher zu halten.
Gibt es dafür einen feststehenden Begriff?

Danke!

Yes, thank you! Thank you, Ramey! :)
Ramey Rieger (X) Aug 24, 2014:
Theory or practice? A theoretical work on an idea, political, philosophical or spiritual, would call for discussion. A scientific work where data is collected and evaluated calls for evaluation or assessment. Does that answer your question?
Astrid_H (asker) Aug 24, 2014:
Hello Ramey These are research results of different aspects to the same research question, and they are combined in the conclusion. Would "interim discussion" fit in this context?
Ramey Rieger (X) Aug 24, 2014:
interim assessment/evaluation In my last academic translation, the issues which contributed to the main issue secondary or reated issues, were thus translated. I think it is a valid translation for this.
Ramey Rieger (X) Aug 24, 2014:
Hello Astrid Are these side issues or aspects of the main issue?

interim assessment/evaluation/discussion

To come to a result, the issues are discussed and (possible) data is assessed. If it is a theoretical work, i.e. non-scientific without data to evalutate, than you may need to use 'discussion'.

Thanks Phil, shall we evaluate it or discuss it?

From what I can tell, the term "discussion" is the standard term. In your case, I would distinguish between the "general discussion" and an interim discussion, but would not use terms like "assessment" or "evaluation."

Note from asker:
Thank you Kim! Yes, discussion is the correct term, so "interim discussion" appears to be the correct expression.
