German term
"abgesetzter Controller-Einheit"
German to English
Tech/Engineering
IT (Information Technology)
Control technology
Context:
"bediengeräte mit LED Displays und abgesetzter Controller-Einheit"
Cf. http://www.proz.com/kudoz/3595337
This seemed to me to mean "remote control unit", but on a couple of occasions the German refers to a "separaten Controller" (für Bediengeräte-Einheiten ohne eigenen Controller), which is actually connected to the main unit by a cable. I'm not sure whether this actually means the same thing as the "abgesetzter Controller-Einheit" or not.

German term (edited):
\"abgesetzter Controller-Einheit\"
separate controller unit
it's 'abgesetzt' from the main unit.
I would suspect it is the same thing as the "separaten Controller"
I would suspect it is the same thing as the "separaten Controller"

detached control unit
"Remote" implies to be separated by a longer distance. If the controller is located next to the main machine, "detached" could be the right term.

Controller Unit
Google: WEbsites I found for the German term mostly refer to one type of camera. I googled the product on English sites and none of them seems to mention anything that specifies "how" the controller unit is attached.
I would therefore just go with the majority and use CONTROLLER UNIT without adjective.

Example sentence:
The digital signals transmitted through the cable are processed in the controller unit with an expanded bandwidth of 3 x 19 bit.
Note from asker:
The problem with that being that the "abgesetzter Controller-Einheit" is itself for a control unit (Bediengerät), as you'll see from the link I included in the question. |
