Einen Teil der bereits in der anderen Sektion A ausgeübten Arbeiten, wie die Betreuung der Klimadatenbank, die Installationen von SUN-Servern und Software hat er beibehalten.

In der Sektion Z hat er verschiedene kleinere und grössere Anwendungen mit U (einem technisch-wissenschaftlichen Datenanalyse- und Visualisierungswerkzeug) unter UNIX realisiert:

@Sabine: That map is updated weekly ... and that is only to accommodate the relative slowness of collection and ground transport by creeks, rivers and underground water tables of precipitation. A single weather front is capable of thoroughly changing this map. I've lived through it. Therefore it is just as much a snapshot in time as your just past or freshly predicted daytime high temperatures or precipitation amounts in the past or upcoming 24 hours. We may continue to disagree on this assessment; I stand by my opinion that your interpretation does not invalidate my proposed answer. By the way, I live in North Texas and we have water restrictions for over a year now, with no end in sight.

regional climate maps Weather is a short-lived event, it's your current conditions including precipitation, temperature, wind etc. A more permanent map would be showing climate regions, i.e. categorized weather patterns overtime. Climate for small locales is also called micro-climate. Depending on the scale of the maps, they might be showing local micro-climates.

Hier ist ein Beispiel für eine solche Karte, ohne aktuelle Wetterinformation eingezeichnet:

Hier ist eine amerikanische Karte, die anstatt aktueller Wetterinformation den Nachholbedarf an Regenfällen darstellt:

In beiden Fällen wird innerhalb einer Region nicht differenziert (offensichtlich in der amerikanischen Karte, und ich lese die Produktbeschreibung von Wetterdirekt ebenso), sodass zum Beispiel Unterschiede zwischen Lüneburg und Lübeck (Inland und Küstenbereich beide in Region 40) dabei nicht zum Ausdruck kommen.
Ich glaube, Dein eigener Vorschlag liegt schon recht gut; ich würde schreiben:
"Maps for documenting weather conditions by region".

neutral Sabine Reynaud : The term weather conditions is used in descriptions of time limited events. TV news casts or live websites show weather maps. The accumulated rainfall map is not a weather map.

I live in a drought and it is a weather issue. Anyway, the NOAA drought map is supposed to show the concept and I knew where to find it. Just imagine using temperatures, or rainfall of the last 24 hours instead, and you get a map looking very much alike.
