Japanese term

同じ砂質土でも

Japanese to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering Soil Mechanics
I am re-posting the question because I am told that Kudoz rules do not allow sentences to be posted in the term/phrase field.

The question is how to translate the term "同じ砂質土でも" in the sentence, "同じ砂質土でも異方性の発達しやすい試料と発達しにくい試料がある"
The following is my (tentative) translation. I am looking for a smarter options for the phrase 同じ砂質土でも.
"even though they are sandy soils, there are ones in which anisotropy develops easily and those in which anisotropy development is more difficult "

"Even though the samples are all sandy soil..."

Your translation catches the meaning of the Japanese quite well. Here is how I would translate for your reference. (Note, you would need to change it according to the context)

"Even though the samples are all sandy soil, some samples can develop anisotropy more easily than other samples."

I hope that helps.

classified in sandy soil

「同じ」 here makes confusion.

Japanese text is poor and conflicted.

Although they may be in grouped in the same category referred to as sandy soils ...

- I think this helps to clarify the idea that they (the sandy soils) may all be in the "sandy soil category", but that they differ in the way in which anisotrophy develops.

Effects of Anisotropy of Sand on Results of Undrained Triaxial Tests.
These tests revealed that the undrained cyclic deformation and strength characteristics of sand deposits are significantly affected by the direction of initial shear stress, due to the anisotropy of the specimens.

neutral cinefil : may be?

Hi, cinefil. My understanding is that just because they’re in the category of sandy soils doesn’t mean that their anistropic behavior will be the same.
