Only two months after the elections two of the supposedly more
responsible opposition parties, Citizens' Platform (PO) and Law
and Justice (PiS), called last week for a vote of no confidence
in Treasury Minister Wieslaw Kaczmarek. This followed conflicts
surrounding his recent decision to sack the board of the Poliush
Opil and Gas Company (PGNiG). They accused Kaczmarek of
defending the interests of gas mogul Aleksander Gudzowaty and
thus undermining Poland's energy security.
