: "ecstasy" takes no indefinite article in English./// But that does not mean it works in this context, that it is grammatically correct, /// "An ecstasy" refers to the drug. Stylistic use of indefinite article would not work here - its not a poem!!

well, don't worry; not using the indefinite article was my first and natural choice too, but I aimed for 100% literality, and, if you will check on google you will find tens of thousands of examples for both, some from notable writers, like E.A. Poe;
