I found "slag heap" to refer to "escoriales", however the dictionary I have defines "escoria" as "dross". I wonder, is there any word such as "dross heap" or something similar in the field of metallurgy? Or is Slag heap the proper translation for "escorial"? As I understand it, slag is a more liquid form of waste and dross is more solid.

Whether it's "slag" or "sludge" depends on the source of the material - for mineral ore, it is usually "slag." For oil, it is usually sludge.
Anything "at the bottom of the barrel" is "escoria," which generally means "waste."
