Hi,
I'd like to know what is the fees (not mentioned in the topic above) and what are the topics of discussion and who are the speakers.
I thought that Microsoft was sponsoring the event but evidently Mr. Raghunathan's message indicates that there's a fees.
Also, what is the agenda of the Powwow?
Will there be someone who is authorised to verify the identities?

I do not understand why you want me to pay 500 rs. I have never attended any conference in India on translation and paid money. I have been atranslator for govt of India for well over 20 yrs. What are you offereing that you want me to pay 500 rs. You hardly haveany participants from overseas. Beisdes I would like to come to interview people for All India Radio, as a journalist.

Off course in the beginning alike minded people for the benefit of translators community have put in all their best with whatever means they have to strengthen our platform.
This forum which is working day and night since July 2005 for stimulating translators for formation of Indian Translators Association has carried out many ground activities. The labour that the organizing members have put in is worth to mention. You may understand that a translator or an agency will not be able to devote their time and energy through out the year for a social cause with same energy and pace if they do not receive proper response from fellow translators.
This event is not being sponsored only by Microsoft India, but also by Allied Modlingua, Trans Infopreneur and all organizing committee members and please also note many of the individual participants ( ex. Sandhya) have come forward to sponsor deserving individuals who are in need of sponsorship .
In addition to stimulating translators for formation of a vibrant platform, this also aims at raising funds for future workshops and maintenance of office and later formation of full fledged association. I am sure you will understand that without funds one can not realize a dream of uniting fellow members and maintaining constant contact. In fact many dreams do not get realized on account of lack of funds, or delay in response.
Kindly note, excluding all other expenses (like Venue cost, tea cost, promotion material costs etc.) we will be paying more than Rs.250/- per head for lunch of participating members. You will also notice that students are being charged only Rs.200/- and on the other side language professionals/ agencies are being charged Rs.500/-. This difference exist because of the fact that being earning translator / agency it is our duty and responsibility to give space and opportunity to young generation / students so that slowly they join hands and take on responsibility of being future leaders in translation world.
Kindly also note, each and every participating member will be enlisted at : www.translatorsinitaive.org (a site sponsored and maintained by www.modlingua.com), and after the meet is over it is proposed to publish a directory as well, which will be circulated to different sections of trade and commerce in India, including diplomatic missions.
We are sure the participation fees for Rs.500/- is worth paying for your own benefit, for the benefit of a growing platform and for the benefit of future generation.
We have noticed from your e-mail that you work for e- valueserve, In addition to your participation. we are sure you will also help us in getting sponsorship from e-valueserve as well which has a full fledged language division.
Kindly also note there are many foreign language speaking journalist who are participant to this meet and they all shall be paying the required fees.
