My name is Francesca Montemagno and I'm an Italian literary translator with past experience in medical and marketing translation. I translate from English, French and Spanish into Italian. My favourite literary genres are fantasy and historical literature and historical non-fiction, but I have also attended both literary and technical translation courses (e.g. financial translation) with much interest and enthusiasm.
I am a CIOL Career Affiliate (no. 44875) and, in Italy, I am an AITI Lombardy Branch Affiliate Member (no. 221007) and an ANITI Affiliate Member (no. 82).
I completed an MA in Audiovisual and Literary Translation at Middlesex University, London, in December 2019, writing an exploratory dissertation on historical novel translation from English into Italian. I obtained a BA in French and Spanish from the University of East Anglia, Norwich, in 2016.
Latest translation: 'I segreti della biblioteca sulla Quinta Strada' ('The Lions of Fifth Avenue'), a historical novel by Fiona Davis set in early 20th century New York City, co-translated with Nello Giugliano, published by Newton Compton Editori in October 2020.
Other important translations include: 'Atlante di anatomia chirurgica della faccia e del collo' ('Atlas d'anatomie chirurgicale de la face et du cou'), a surgical anatomy manual by Yves Saban and Roberto Polselli, translated from French and published by Acta Medica Edizioni in 2018.
