español term
cometerles comisiones de confianza
español al inglés
Negocios/Finanzas
Finanzas (general)
Chilean power of attorney /By-laws
From the by-laws of a Chilean "sociedad por acciones"; the text is referring to the powers granted to the "Administrador" of the company.
El Administrador tendrá las siguientes facultades especiales:
[...]
From what I can tell, a "comisión de confianza" is just a trust, so here I think this just means "set up bank trusts" (i.e. with the bank as trustee). Ideas?
Into U.S. English.

(Chi) cometerles comisiones de confianza
Selected
appoint them trustees; entrust them with factorships
I am afraid all of my refs. disappeared, so I'll just leave a barebones answer.
I think this is a factorship / bank accepting orders to buy and sell stocks or executorships of Wills - not financial factoring, nor factorage = commission payment scene, but an agency.
comisión de confianza > trust (Rob: Chile > West)-

Comment: "After reviewing all the references and input, I came to the conclusion that this was referring to "appointing them (= the banks) as commission agents" in "comisiones de confianza", the definition of which at https://www.bcp.com.bo/Empresas/Fideicomisos seems to match (more or less) the "comisión mercantil" in Mexico, as per J. Becerra: https://diccionariojfbecerra.com/blog/principal-and-agent
I think Adrian is right in his understanding here (and this comes closest to my understanding), though I think I'll phrase it slightly differently."

to charge them trusteeship commissions
Comisiones de Confianza. Son encargos en las que el COMISIONISTA se obliga a ejecutar por cuenta y riesgo del COMITENTE actos o gestiones determinadas. ... La comisión de confianza se formaliza a través de un contrato privado con o sin representación.
Trustee (or the holding of a trusteeship) is a legal term which, in its broadest sense, is a synonym for anyone in a position of trust and so can refer to any person who holds property, authority, or a position of trust or responsibility to transfer the title of ownership to the person named as the new owner, in a trust instrument, called a beneficiary. A trustee can also refer to a person who is allowed to do certain tasks but not able to gain income, although that is untrue.[1] Although in the strictest sense of the term a trustee is the holder of property on behalf of a beneficiary,[1] the more expansive sense encompasses persons who serve, for example, on the board of trustees of an institution that operates for a charity, for the benefit of the general public, or a person in the local government.

set up escrow accounts
The best example of escrow is during the sale of real property. The bank, or escrow company opens an escrow account and holds the buyer's money, which is deposited there until certain requirements are met - title searches, lies, claims on the property - before the sale is finalized and the money passed to the seller.

to assign responsible trading committees (to them)
'cometer' could mean to commit or to assign, but I'm not sure who the 'les' (to them) would be. I saw 'ante los bancos' so the 'les' could refer to the banks or 'las más amplias facultades' (the larger faculties or the greater powers/authorities).
Example sentence:
El Administrador tendrá las siguientes facultades especiales: representar al poderante ante los bancos nacionales o extranjeros, con las más amplias facultades que puedan necesitarse, darles instrucciones,..abrir cuentas bancarias corrientes o de ahorro
The Administrator will be especially authorized to do the following: to represent the Governor before national or foreign banks, with greater influential leadership which may be needed, to pass instructions to open current accounts and savings accounts.
Note from asker:
Yes, "les" would have to the banks here. |
