I recommend you to read the following article in Translation Journal, written by Dag Forsell - Swedish Translator based in California.

Use the emerging knowledge to educate your agencies/customers.

Travails of 'Localization' endeavours Oct 23, 2002

A wonderful reading for translation experts but how would you \'educate\' the agencies/customers when they are unwilling to learn or do not want to be bothered by these irksome \'details\'. Nevertheless, it would be a good idea to present this text first to the customer before starting with such projects.

Right ON! Oct 23, 2002

Whenever someone complains in front of me about the low quality of localized software, I explain to them exactly how these things are made.

I\'ll start referring them to this article...

Localization in Thai Nov 2, 2002

In Thai, most people use English terms for imported concept. Many years on lecture in universityies, I found that Thai is likely to accpect foerign words rather than translating into Thai. Any idea ?
