I do not buy Christmas gifts Dec 25, 2021

I stopped buying Christmas gifts the day I realized that it was more of a chore than pleasure. I am certainly not a believer of consumerism just for the sake of consumerism. I prefer by far being generous all over the year in small doses when the situation calls for it than being bulimic in my shopping around this season. Happy Holidays!

It’s a pleasure to do that and I start buy all my presents under December. I think Christmas it’s wonderful excuse to meet family and friends to tell them you love them all.

I started buying presents in early December. We have a rule that we never do anything to plan for Christmas before my daughter's birthday mid-November, otherwise her birthday would just be obliterated. I had a quiet spell in early December and got ahead with buying presents then - I'm the sort to only get stuff done when the deadline starts looming, so I was quite proud of getting them early. The last one was bought on the 24th though.

Since my daughter and former wife can afford to buy all their necessities, most of my gifts are non-utilitarian, and I buy small items throughout the year as they strike my fancy. The trouble is remembering what I've bought and where I've put them when it comes time to wrap the presents in December. Sometimes they turn up after the holiday, in which case, they become birthday gifts.
