To be on the safe side, I'd say my number of clients would more or less stay the same. However, they keep recommending me to their colleagues, for example last year I gained two or three new clients that way. My main problem nowadays is juggling them all to be able to meet all the deadlines.

I haven't done any marketing or networking for about twenty years.

I did engage in active marketing when I started my translation career some 40 years ago, but I haven’t marketed myself for a long time because in the meanwhile I’ve managed to build a good base of loyal and regular customers, which has been consistently growing…

Some have come back at intervals several times, and new ones find me along the way too, so I have practically always had enough work without a lot of active marketing.

I take care of good clients - I make a real effort to get noticed, and let them know when I am away and when I come back. Many of them have worked with me for years. However, apart from my profiles on this site and with the CIoL I do not ... See more
