The program (and the amount of vocabulary that is taught) seems impressive, but the English-speaking narrator on the audio SAMPLES talks very very slow.

I cannot say if it is worth the investment, but I would not choose it. Even without listening to the samples, the discouraging signs are many:
- With today's multimedia, computer-based, interactive systems, I would not be tempted to use a system that is based on a pure audio recording to learn a new language.

- With today's multimedia, computer-based, interactive systems, I would not be tempted to use a system that is based on a pure audio recording to learn a new language.
- The entire concept of this system seems to be built around the idea of imparting a vocabulary. That is entirely contrary to language acquisition theory and language teaching practice as we know them today.
- The system, if we can call it that, also flirts with national and cultural stereotypes ("How do Arabs communicate…How do they think…How they sympathize…Whom do they support and love…What is their main cause…What are their attitudes towards certain incidents") -- so dated, naive, and dangerous.
- The author makes a hilarious claim about the "science of Phonetics which he proved, in one of his studies, to be an Arabic Science which is totally taken from Tajweed Science."
- It gets worse when the author summarizes his theory of second language acquisition: "one has to pass through the four major steps. Those steps are the same steps children pass when they acquire their native language." Shall we call this "The Chlidlike Theory of Language Acquisition"?
- The inclusion of Hans Wehr's Dictionary is an amusing feature, and, for me, was the first clue.
My advice: Take a class, take private lessons, Take a semester at an Arab university -- or find a different system. ▲ Collapse | |

Stephen Franke Jungtinės Amerikos Valstijos Local time: 07:54 iš anglų į arabų + ... Agree with Fuad's good comments | Oct 10, 2005 |
Greetings.
I agree with Fuad's good comments about that dubious product.
The writer of that product apparently is unaware of the "Adult Learning Model" as applied to second language acquisition.

Stephen H. Franke
