Ragazzi, scusate l\'inglese, ma \"posto\" il messaggio anche qui per completezza.

I have a suggestion for Henry, here. Why not organize a best profile competition, with the best 3 profiles awarded BrowniZ and a limited exposure on the main page? We only need an e-mail address or a thread where we can post our URLs. Henry could choose the \"judges\", or they could be found on a volontary basis. What do you think?

Giovanni

You are the surest winner! Apr 11, 2002

I won\'t enter in the contest. I consider that your profile is, without doubt, the best!! Congratulations!

(Could you help me with mine?) I remenber that not so long ago there was a kind of guide for doing a better profile, but now I don\'t find it.

but I also just saw you said \"post our URLs\". Did you mean a best homepage competition, and I got you wrong?

You can find a link to the tutorial on my profile page. Scroll down to the bottom.

Also, when you enter \"Edit your profile\" you will find there a link to the same tutorial.

Non c'è gara... Apr 11, 2002

do you do in these type of cases? I mean I have seen some other people copy

only one or two sentences from each-other, but this case is one of a kind.

See for yourself.

I agree on all points. Besides, I think there can be too much movement, too many old gimmicks, too many distractions. That old, old gimmick: \"Follow the sky diver\" is all of it: old, a gimmick, distracting, without any relevance to translation or linguistic...

Agencies already treat translators like a bunch of children. I do not want to deliver artwork for their refrigerators by the water cooler.

Sorry, I think it is a terrible idea.

It has happened to me twice: one copied essential passages from my own personal website and put it into his ProZ profile (just like in your example, with terrible mistakes); another one did the same, but included it in her personal website.

They both copied sections such as \"FAQ\", \"Tips for clients\" - even \"Rates & Payment\", etc. - word for word! ▲ Collapse

I tend to agree with you on most issues, but this time I have to side with Karin.

It\'s nice to have a few extra HTML tools to enhance one\'s profile, but I believe the original plan behind member profiles was to give clients a quick overview, preferably on a single screen, without having to scroll down, down, down, ... .

Karin is also right in assuming that this \"competition\" would lead to a new flood of untrue statements about working languages, skills, qualifications, etc. ▲ Collapse
