Both of my parents are turkish but i was born and raised in germany.I used to speak with my mother turkish and with my father german in most of the cases.I was going to a german school and in fifth grade we started learning english in which i didn't had any problems in learning it.Before i got married my husband (he is pakistani)used to speak with his friend in urdu sometimes.In a matter of roughly three month i started to understand every conversation they did.I had a bit difficulty in speaking... Just have to say I've only just discovered this forum (yet I've been using proz for quite a while) and I find this thread very interesting, and a bit of a relief to see "we're" not alone. We don't have any children yet, but we are planning it for the near future, but I know the language element has been worrying both of us quite a lot, I'm Irish, my wife is Spanish and we live in France.
