English to Portuguese: Infectious Laryngotracheitis, ILT (Laringotraqueíte Infecciosa, LTI) Detailed field: Livestock / Animal Husbandry
Source text - English Introduction
A herpesvirus (pathogenicity can vary) infection of chickens, pheasants, peafowl and turkeys with a morbidity of 50-100% and a mortality usually 10-20% but sometimes up to 70%. Recovered and vaccinated birds are long-term carriers. The route of infection is via upper respiratory tract and conjunctiva or possibly oral and the course of the disease is up to 6 weeks. Fairly slow lateral spread occurs in houses. Transmission between farms can occur by airborne particles or fomites. The virus is highly resistant outside host but is susceptible to disinfectants. Movement and mixing of stock and reaching point of lay are predisposing factors.
Signs
• Dyspnoea.
• Gasping.
• Coughing of mucus and blood.
• Drop in egg production.
• Ocular discharge.
• Sinusitis.
• Nasal discharge (low pathogenicity strains).
- Dispnéia;
- Dificuldade de deglutição;
- Expectoração de secreção mucosa e sanguinolenta;

Years of experience: 15. Registered at ProZ.com: Aug 2011.
I'm a Brazilian expat living in New York City. I have a doctor degree in Veterinary Medicine and a passion for languages.
Over the past year I have attended translation courses at Daniel Brilhante de Brito and worked as a freelance translator for NGOs.
Due to my multidisciplinary background and extensive medical vocabulary,
I have been working as a medical/ veterinary medicine translator and transcriptionist for more than 5 years. Recently, I've also been working in the subjects of arts, business and economics for Brazilian agencies and American websites, working closely with proofreaders and senior translators.
What I like most about being a translator that I get a chance to deliver my talents in a professional environment, giving special attention to the demands of the agency and client.
If you’re worried if I delivery the quality you and your clients require, I’d be happy to send you a sample of my work or do a test transcription – whatever is your preference.
