French to English: iPhone 6 General field: Tech/Engineering Detailed field: Telecom(munications)
(EP)
Translation - English Many smartphones, tablettes and digital equipments are provided with a NFC chip for allowing contactless payment, peer to peer communication between compatible devices, tag reading, profile exchanges, controlling domotic systems, etc. Apple has already taken the plunge towards this technology by providing it in its new iPhone6 and iPhone 6 plus. “Finally” some people will say by pointing out rightly that there is nothing exceptional about it ;”nice” will retort others as the Apple Pay system which makes use of it, seems to be well designed.
The problem is that Apple has reserved the NFC chip of the iPhone 6 to its system Apple Pay. Do not hope to pair the smartphone with any old Bluetooth simply by’ tapping’ it, it won't be possible. Likewise, it is blocked for other uses. This surprising fact discovered by Cult of Mac, is confirmed as the developers don't have access to the elements of this technology for developing their applications. Besides, the brand Apple is not showcasing NFC as the major characteristics of its new iPhone.
Our colleagues at CNET.com were able to contact an Apple representative regarding this and though he did not give any explanation, he specified that this blockage will remain in effect for at least one year, which gives a little hope for the future. But huge regrets at the moment. (EP)
