Bio
Hi there, my name is Kim Marié. I currently reside in Montreal, QC, and I lived in Cardiff, Wales for close to 8 years before that. I am originally from around Le Havre, France and I have spent my first 20 years there.
I have always been attracted to languages as far as I can remember, which is why my studies were focused around them. Indeed, I took an intensive English course through high school and was awarded my "Baccalauréat" in Literature (similar to A-Levels) with English language as a speciality.
I went to Le Havre University to study a BA in the English Language, Literature and Civilisation (Licence LLCE). I gained the opportunity to spend my third and last year in Xiamen, China, thanks to an exchange program within the School of Modern Languages. Thus, I obtained my BA with honours in 2014.
After graduation, I decided to move to Cardiff, Wales, in order to improve my English and to learn the culture first hand. I found a full-time position in a Bar, worked my way up and became a Deputy Manager of a large venue all the while studying a MA in Translation Studies at Cardiff University. I graduated in 2019 with distinctions.
As an English to French Translator, I specialise in Audiovisual Translation (more so Subtitling) as well as in Business and Medical Translation. I also have experience in Transcription (US English). My studies and work background have given me the vocabulary and knowledge necessary for various topics.
