Hello! My name is David Gómez de la Garza. I am a 21 years old, and a language enthusiast. I am studying a major in literature at the “Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM)” but right now I am spending a semester in Florence, Italy to deepen my knowledge of the Italian language. I have been studying English since I was 6 years old and have never stopped. I learned French in school though my level is not formidable enough to work as a translator (i would say my proficiency is around A2). I have also been studying Italian for a year and I have spent 3 months of that time actually living in the country. I love translating. My experience with it has been purely academic, doing diverse work translating poetry and essays for my university. I wish to expand my area of work to all types of written text, and if possible help people of different cultures to connect and communicate through the different types of media (news articles, academic and free essays, subtitles in movies and tv, poetry, short stories and novels). I am very obsessive and love to learn new words and their etymology. This makes me very thorough in my writing and translating. My tendency to art, writing and reading poetry and literature, as well as my training in classical piano (15 years and counting) give me the aesthetic sense to construct texts in a way that are not only easy to understand but also beautiful. Lastly, my desire for learning and improving makes me a hard worker, that loves to read and write and is eager to make a name for himself in the translating community. |
