Translation - Spanish The Authorities' Awareness Task Force has conducted interventions in the municipalities of Jojutla, Huitzilac, Amacuzac, Yautepec, Temixco, Totolapan, Puente de Ixtla, Tetecala, Cuernavaca and Yecapixtla.
In some of these places the authorities in charge, as well as the municipal presidency, have been permissive regarding violence. The families insist on the exchange of ideas with the institutions and police
forces, who are the first contact when it comes to assisting the cases and that in many cases have perpetrated or permitted the disappearance of people; this also strives to send a message of peace, raise awareness and create spaces for humanization. The Task Force managed to make agreements and commitments with every city, in order for the process to be systematic and long-term for every intervened community.
The Schools Task Force achieved 10 days of activities, despite the Covid-19 pandemic. Around 200 students and 70 teachers interacted directly with the Brigade at 9 schools, high schools and universities, to
share and listen to words of solidarity, statements and artistic expressions aimed at the construction of memory and peace, as well as to share with the infants the impact of enforced disappearance in families and communities in an accessible manner.
The Churches and Faith Communities Task Force mobilized from an ecumenical exercise (Anglican, Anabaptist, Mennonite, Catholic communities, Quaker, The Evangelical Covenant Church, Seventh-day
Evangelical Church, Metropolitan Methodist Church of Sexual Diversity) participated in the municipalities of Amacuzac, Cuautla, Cuernavaca, Huitzilac, Jojutla, Mazatepec, Puente de Ixtla, Temixco, Tetecala,Totolapan, Yautepec and Yecapixtla; who showed interest and determination continuing to keep the families looking for their loved ones company. Peace Mailboxes were promoted at all times with the intention of receiving anonymous messages, prayers, encouraging words and information to help the search. In the visited locations, the 90% of people that listened to the Brigade, know about someone that has gone missing, however, during their route through the churches, a society frightened and fragmented by violence was acknowledged. For this reason, some alternatives were implemented by this Task Force, and new paths are being opened to keep building, as a community, the search for missing persons.
