English to German: Article about a modern art painter General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Advertising / Public Relations
Source text - English Dejan Bogdanovic is a charismatic figure. Apart from being blessed with rather good looks, he possesses an irresistible laugh and outgoing nature that immediately makes you want to know more about him.
But, when you get to know him a little better, even his looks and charming smile cannot deflect from his utter dedication to his craft.
Born in Sarajevo on December7th, 1963, as the son of an international chess champion, Dejan discovered the intellectual art world at a very young age. By the time he was five-years-old, he had painted his first still-life series.
After his graduation from the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, Dejan moved to study in Italy, where he had received a grant from the prestigious "Studio Art Centers International" (short SACI), in Florence. There, he continued painting, until the civil war in his home country of Yugoslavia became too intense for him to focus on his art. Having a Serbian father and a Croatian mother, he was - so to speak - a child of both fractions in this gruelling conflict.
During this time of grief for his country, Dejan discovered his interest in gastronomy and found an unsual way to take his mind off the war. He decided to open a café, which he ran until he returned to painting in 1999.
Dejan also created the first fusion restaurant in Florence (aptly named Picasso), which combined his art with his love for fine wines and food. His own art adorned the Picasso's walls and the restaurant became one of Florence's trendiest places to eat and hang out late night. Here, a group of locals and foreigners could be found regularly to sample Dejan's unique collection of red wine. By the way, Dejan's favorite wines still are the Ornellaia 1998, the Amarone Del Forno Romano 1997 and the Sassicaia 1998.
But coming back to his painting:
Using the traditional medium of oil on canvas, Dejan has always played with various colors and artistic expressions.
A few years ago, he painted a cycle of light-hearted motifs with his unmistakable abstract stroke, many of which portrayed Ballet dancers.
Recently, his mood seems to have changed into a more serious one. Although continuing to experiment with the female form in various colours, Dejan's paintings are now of a deeper colour with an overall more philosophical theme.
Translation - German Dejan Bogdanovic ist eine charismatische Gestalt.
