Spanish term

Conjunto habitacional

Spanish to English Other Construction / Civil Engineering Property valuation
I'd be very grateful for any help with these terms, particularly from my Chilean colleagues. Seems quite straightforward, but rather general. Does this apply to any particular type of construction?

I'd need the term in British English, please.

Thanking everyone in advance!

Damian Hosford May 26, 2011:
Sorry you took it that way Eski... Hi Eski, my intention was not to make this a "complex" issue, or for anyone to get anyone into an "estate" about it (sorry, bad pun I know).

Being a British national, I stand by the fact that "housing complex" is normally used in terms of older people living in the same complex in their own flats, i.e. sheltered housing complex, although I do admit it can be used as a term to describe regular housing developments from time to time.

Thanks so much for providing the examples. The first is an American news website, hence the use of "complex" for the target audience. The second is a true example of a "housing complex" for standard use, granted. The third illustrates the very example that I put forward about "sheltered housing complex". All in all, the evidence you provide is not so conclusive for your case in British English I believe.

But hey, let's leave it at that shall we and hope Christine has found the answer she was looking for. Peace.

neutral Damian Hosford : Christine wants a term in British English, housing complex in the UK tends to be used only as "sheltered housing complex" where the elderly reside. I change my answer to neutral to keep the peace.

Hi Eski, I don't see you are providing a valid reason for disagreeing with "housing estate" as an option, all the best all the same.
