French term

bonus

French to English Marketing Telecom(munications) Marketing questionnaire about mobile phone promotions from companies
I'm not sure how to translate this in the context of mobile phones in France/francophone countries
11. Cela donne envie de faire ce qui est proposé (recharger, profiter des bonus ,…) = take advantage of bonuses?
vous n’avez pas reçu le bonus promis - you didn't receive the bonus advertised
1. Du bonus offert si vous rechargez un certain montant - receiving a bonus if you ...

Or is there a better way to put this?
Proposed translations (English)
3 +2 free credit
5 -1 prime

Discussion

Luna Jungblut Mar 23, 2015:
Bonus I agree with Ana Vozone, 'free credit' works well if it is free credit the customer is getting!

Sometimes, instead of free credit, the 'bonus' can consist of free calls or half-price calls to a particular number or country, or even win devices by entering a code received when topping up...
In that case, 'bonus' would be translated in English by 'prizes'. And 'prizes' can also work to mean 'free credit' :)

That's the term used for mobile phone bonuses
Note from asker:
The original is in French. We don't call them bonuses in English. We might refer to bonus minutes or bonus credit. I'm looking for the translation from French to English. Thanks anyway.
Peer comment(s):

disagree B D Finch : It isn't and that makes a confidence level of 5 even more inappropriate.

Another suggestion.

Sometimes, the 'bonus' you get when topping up can also consist of free calls to a particular number or even real rewards.

With this context, 'free credit' works fine, it just depends on what the rest of the text says.
But for this reason, I would personally chose to say 'prize'
