Spanish term

Pago: Abono a clientes

Spanish to English Bus/Financial Finance (general)
Hello,

How would you distinguish between the terms "pago" and "abono" in the phrase: "PAGO: Abono a clientes 0967...", which appears in a Chilean bank account statement under the column "detalle de transacción"? I understand that "abono," much like "pago," means "payment" (https://www.proz.com/kudoz/spanish-to-english/medical/410402... Thanks for the clarification!
