I've seen that previous KudoZ answers suggest 'outcrops' for this but I'm not sure it works in this context. My dictionary of architectural terms suggests this means blow/bail, the undesired appearance of water/material in an excavation, but I am struggling to find references to this in English.
The verb 'aflorar' is also used throughout:
Sin embargo, se encontraban completamente arrasadas, conservándose únicamente unas pocas hiladas en el mejor de los casos, cuando no se habían perdido completamente, ***aflorando*** el sustrato geológico.
