Ciao Gaia. In questo contesto non avrebbe senso tradurre letteralmente con "drappeggio", ma credo che si faccia riferimento alla morbidezza in opposizione all'elasticità, soprattutto se si considera il paragone molto chiaro dello scialle rispetto ai calzini.

Drape is the way in which any fabric flows. Because of the way in which a crochet fabric is constructed, it can lend itself to stiffer fabric than knitting. This is great for things like bowls, baskets and amigurumi, but isn't as useful when constructing a sweater.

: si, è più di morbidezza - si tratta anche del peso, il modo in cui cade la stoffa o la fibra.
