No real context available, unfortunately, except that it applies to a purse in this particular case.
It occurs in a suppliers' guide for a UK chainstore. Four examples of accessories are provided where specific rules apply concerning delivery.
These four items are:
"Contract stitch purse / Stab stitch purse / Mick leather ruc sac in tan / N/S stab stitch bag in black".
I think it may be a typo for "Contrast stitch", but Google finds 3000 examples of "contract stitch"!

surpiqûre à la machine
je crois que « contract stitches » est une façon de préciser que les surpiqûres sont faites à la machine et aussi une façon de se démarquer. Mais, comme les surpiqûres faites à la main sont rarissimes...je me demande; est-il besoin de préciser qu'elles sont faites à la machine?

En fait, si « contract stich » et « stab stich » sont dans le même énoncé, vaut sans doute mieux préciser que les surpiqûre sont faites à la machine.
