निष्कर्ष भी extraction ही है - निचोड़, सार। निष्कर्षण शब्द तो सरल है लेकिन प्रचलन में नहीं आ पाया। वैसे यह विभिन्न गतिविधियों को समेटे पूरी एक प्रक्रिया का भान कराता है।

भारत सरकार की एक खान मंत्रालय है (http://mines.nic.in/hwelcome.html) जो पेट्रोलियम और प्राकृतिक गैस के सिवा बाकी सब खनिजों की देखरेख करता है। पेट्रोलियम और प्राकृतिक गैस के लिए अलग मंत्रालय है। Extractives, minerals का Americanism लगता है। निष्कर्षण को लेकर समस्या यह है कि इसे अधिक परिचित निष्कर्ष (नतीजा) से कन्फ्यूस किया जा सकता है। वह खनन जितना प्रचलित शब्द भी नहीं है, और कठिन अलग है। संदर्भ के लिहाज से खनन ही extractives के लिए हिंदी में ठीक प्रति-शब्द लगता है।

extractive sector का स्वरूप व्यापक है, जिसका एक हिस्सा mining भी है। इसीलिए आम बोलचाल में निष्कर्षण के स्थान पर खनन या दोहन जैसे शब्द चलते हैं। संदर्भ अनुमति दे तो निष्कर्षण का प्रयोग किया जा सकता है।

Any processes that involve the extraction of raw materials from the earth to be used by consumers. The extractive industry consists of any operations that remove metals, mineral and aggregates from the earth. Examples of extractive processes include oil and gas extraction, mining, dredging and quarrying.

The extractive industry is made up of the mining, quarrying, dredging, oil and gas extraction industries. These differ in what, how and where they extract.

खनन क्षेत्र

Here extractives sector refers to sectors like oil, gas, coal, minerals, etc, which are extracted from the earth. The word खनन seems appropriate for this. Sector is usually written in Hindi as क्षेत्र. Sometimes this word is just transliterated as सेक्टर.

3. Extractive Industry

Extractive industry is concerned with extraction or drawing out goods from the soil, air or water. Generally products of extractive industries come in raw form and they are used by manufacturing and construction industries for producing finished products. E.g. mining industry, coal mineral, oil industry, iron ore, extraction of timber and rubber from forests, etc.

agree Shrinivas Vazzhala : निष्कर्षण literally means extraction. e.g. Metal extraction has several processes including mining, seperation, melting, refining, casting, shaping etc.
