Estoy trabajando en un texto que menciona este término y al revisarlo he visto que puede llevar a la confusión ya que en español "Planificación de cuentas" se refiere también a la contabilidad.
Aquí está el texto para referencia:

It's a vital component of the account plan as it aligns to the whole account team with a clear purpose and common goal that ensures that everyone is in the same direction."

When I was working in advertising, Account Planning was the new big thing for tying a client into the agency. It referred to long-term planning for positioning a brand in the consumers' minds and increasing awareness, mindshare and eventually sales and market share. This made strategy central, so the "creatives" hated it as it restricted them and made them think, never their strong suit. Planning was supposed to replace the widely used smash-and grab-approach to getting your hands on a client's cash by doing what made most money for the agency as quickly as possible, clients being notoriously fickle and cowardly, so owners and anyone on commission hated it too. The people in charge were called Planners, which sounded snazzy and international, and their job was Planificación de Cuentas. They were supposed to lay out a course for the brand that would develop as awareness and positioning were established until the brand conquered a certain place in peoples' mind and on their shopping lists. Fat chance.
