Originally, this was a longish piece of wood with V-shaped indentations on both ends used to wind fishing line of a zakidushka (donka) before the mass advent of spinning rods and reels. Please do not offer me "reel" or "coiler" because those imply a round reel, which this one is distinctly not. It's a stick, essentially, i.e. linear rather than circular. Any ideas, old fishermen? Thanks to those who know.

I may well be an older fisherman still, Irina:))) Or, rather, younger, seeing how I still remember using those back before I even tried smoking for the first time. You are right, these are among the countless other victims of Chinese mass production, but you can still see them on occasion at better, boonier locations. I actually saw one in Dubrovnik a couple of weeks ago. An old (well, duh:))) man in a row boat used it to catch an octopus right under the Old City wall near the harbor as I was leisurely swimming by. Strangely enough, I've never heard the word motovilo before, so I had to look it up. Nor did we ever have any other name for the thing. It just didn't need a name, is all.

And yes, none of those reels, coils, bobbins work since they are all round, and this one is not. And the "bobbin pin" is actually just a thick wooden pin used in yarn weaving. It has nothing to do with fishing. Besides, you can't even get that bobbin thingy unless your name is Robbin:)))))

I am an old fisherman Но дело швах... Миша, я поискала Search Google for Image в надежде увидеть под аналогичной картинкой английское название, но нашла глобальный и категорический шиш. Некие Agara, Laguna (Bulgaria) и пр. такой продукции на своих собственных сайтах не предлагают. Уже не говорю о приличных магазинах соответствующих товаров. Не знаю, как срочно, но последнее спасение - ждать, когда выйдут на наш пирс соседи, техасские рыболовы-любители, и сбегать с фото в телефоне спросить у них, как они это назовут. А у нас, как на грех, дождь моросит второй день, но завтра обещают солнышко и +22. После дождя хорошо клюет:-), может и поймаю. Вижу их частенько с балкона. Боюсь, что прогресс в рыболовном деле похоронил мотовила, а у нас с папой такие были на Вуоксе :-) Даже для поводочниц уже коробочки-контейнеры, защищенные, с отделениями, закрывающиеся.

Мотовила, поводочницы

Мотовило это то, на что наматывают оснастку для удочек. Так же мотовило используют для сматывания и хранения доночных оснасток, фидерных оснасток и даже спиннингисты используют мотовила для хранения готовых оснасток, таких как отводной поводок и другие.

Мотовила бывают разные - деревянные, из пробки и даже металлические, но самые популярные и недорогие это пластиковые мотовила.

Хорошие мотовила должны иметь множество перегородок и крючков для удобства зацепки оснастки, а так же желательно, чтобы перегородки были смещены к одному краю, чтобы тело поплавка полностью скрывалось за боками мотовила во избежании травмирования.
