Good afternoon, colleagues!

I have started my career as freelance translator several months ago.

I only would like to confirm with software, mobile apps and video games translators and localizers my impressions of these fields.

Is it true that the localizing agencies working in these kind of fields prefer memoQ to Trados?

I have education in the IT field (apart from my Degree in Translation and Interpreting) and specific education in software, mobile apps and video games translation and localization but I have never got a job on those fields yet.

I acquired an annual subscrption to Trados Studio 2021 because I have realized it's cheaper than memoQ and, bearing in mind that RWS usually releases a new SDL Trados Studio Version every 2 years, it's cheaper to subscribe for 1 year to the product maybe twice and change the subscription once the new version is released (I have calculated one can spare around 30 USD.) In addition, I have never worked with memoQ, but I like Trados and it supports more types of files than memoQ.

Please don't understand my wrongly. I am stepping into the translation market so I need to minimize the costs of invertions.

Thank you so much for sharing your opinions and have a nice week!

Jorge
