It would be great if anyone could help me with the following question: If an agency sends me a Trados memory (5 files:iix, mtf, mdf, mwf, tmw), is it possible to import these into wordfast to create a wordfast TM? And if it is, how do I do that? I am using wordfast 4.22 & Plus Tools (if it is necessary for this purpose I could download wordfast 5.0) Many thanks, Tanja.

Ask a friend / the client
Apr 27, 2005
Hello Tanja,
The procedure is simple - ask a friend, who uses Trados, to convert the 5 files into one TMX file, which you can import into WF (you simply open it as if it was a .txt - it will convert automatically) Alternatively, you can ask the client/agency to do the conversion for you (it is a basic feature of Trados). As far as I know, there is no other way.
Regards
Marek

Help with files conversion?
Sep 16, 2006
Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me with such a files conversion for Wordfast use. I can't ask the Client because they sent me the files and just went home from their office [another time zone] and the translation is due on Monday.
Of course if such a files conversion is confidentiality breach, please inform me so I can let the Client know the translation cannot be completed on time.
Thank you in advance, Trados users!

ApSIC Xbench supports the following bilingual input formats:
• Tabbed text files • TMX memories • TRADOS exported memories • TRADOS exported MultiTerm 5 glossaries • TRADOS TagEditor .ttx files in a directory • TRADOS Word uncleaned .rtf and .doc files in a directory • SDLX .itd files in a directory tree. (Note: This option requires that SDLX is installed on the machine. ) • IBM TranslationManager exported dictionaries • IBM TranslationManager folders (installed) • STAR Transit pair files in a directory • Wordfast memories • Wordfast glossaries • Microsoft .csv software glossaries
I have received Trados TM from my client (5 files iix, mdf, mtf, mwf and tmw) and I can't open it with Wordfast. I am litteraly pulling my hair out because my client is at home and not at work and can't send me a txt or tmx file.
Could somebody help me do the conversion ? Or give me advice as to what to do ?
It would really help me !
Thanks in advance !
