Discussion

NikkoTh (asker) Sep 19, 2012:
Tony M Sep 19, 2012:
Well found, Alison! Asker's context didn't make it clear if this was an international promotion, but if so, then the use to mean 'geographical zone' is of course perfectly logical.
Alison MacG Sep 19, 2012:
I think Tony has the right idea. Take a look at how Cisco uses the term "theater" here:
New Learning Partner Award & Recognition Category!
1. Top Quality Award: One per Theater (AMERICAS, EMEAR, APJC)
If you have any questions regarding the New Learning Partner Award criteria, please reach out to the corresponding Learning Partner Channel Manager (LPCM) for your respective Theater:

or here:
The event took place during lunchtime in Cisco cafeterias throughout the world. A representative from a security organization answered questions and directed employees to the virtual event for continuous participation.
Giveaways were offered as an incentive for people to attend the event, including

NikkoTh (asker) Sep 19, 2012:
Tony M Sep 19, 2012:
Theater I suspect this may be a sort of US jargon word for the area over which the campaign is being carried out — it may be, for example, that there is a localized campaign centred around, say, each branch office. Cf. 'theatre of war'. Maybe something like 'chaque zone de la campagne'?
NikkoTh (asker) Sep 19, 2012:

On the basis of Alison G's research, which seems to confirm my instinctive thought.

Note from asker:

Tony's Zone would be ok if it is a geographical distinction.
Can I put up this too:
Let us leave here with renewed vigour for substantive strides on this crucial theatre of activity.
