| | | Zhoudan Local time: 04:28 английский => китайский + ...
LV, Gucci, Prada, Daisy Garden, Armani, Fendi, Buberry

(Made in Italy, Made in England, etc., ensuring the exclusivity of the product lines).

However, it looks like that's the terminology that stuck and entered into standard vocabulary. I assume it must have lost its negative connotation in everyday use; but to me it stiil sounds pretty awful. In the old days ('60s and '70s), people in Beijing used to refer to this category of merchandise as "高级货", for example, "高级糖", "高级香烟", "高级点心", "高级服装", "高级手表", "高级轿车", "高级公寓" 等等 - 现在想想, 如此用词不免有点儿单调笼统. Yet in comparison, I still like the plain and simple terminology from the past much better. As a matter of fact, "贵重物品", "高价物品", or even "豪华用品", "顶级消费品" all make a lot more sense to me than the so-called "奢侈品".
