Gibberish and Torture Jan 27, 2009

Sweet and innocent gibberish ! Btw, Alice is one of my favorite child fiction characters / books.

Slightly brainwashing. It reminds me of a Japanese torture device.:)

it's not right: anyone is mix of different blood & i'm not exception here. different color: hair, eyes etc. all this doesn't define nation of anyone: i did see one lass, she is born in the Russia, has russian parents, but recognizes herself to Finnish nation. in other words, human nation bases on structure h[is/er] Mind.

Hello lai an,

Serbian /Croatian / Bosnian are in fact three variants of the same language. Bosnian is closer to Croatian, i.e. they are both Ieakvian variant, whereas Serbian in Serbia is Ekavian ( Iekavian - Ekavian refers to dialectic differences, basically ).
Indeed, seven cases, changes of gender / number / case suffixes on each noun, verb, pronoun, etc... Also, we are using two alphabets : Cyrillic and Latin.

...

About Chinese : as far as I remember, Chinese is one of those rare languages with SOV lang. structure ? Or perhaps I mixed it up with some other language ? Or was it VOS ?

Hello Lingua

Thank you!

I learn:
(Illyrians, Southern Slavs, Schism, Turks, very complicated ...,
Macedonians, Slovenes, Bulgars...
Greco-Roman/Alexander, Ottoman-Turk,
Mongol-Yoke, Pax-Mongolica, very difficult ... )

Serbian has two scripts - like Tajik ... (maybe).
Croatian has one? because of (?)

A man went to Split to buy a yacht...
the engine was thrashed on the Adriatic,
so now it's in the Canaries somewhere
being repaired...

East European-New Zealand writers in English:
Amelia Batistich, An Olive Tree in Dalmatia and Other Stories
Kapka Kassabova

Anyhow, Mandarin is a Sino-Tibetan language (this I know):
no cases, uninflected, generally SVO (but sometimes flexible).

SOV langs are quite common hey!
Latin (I know); Japanese (I think I knew).
Turkic langs, recently I found out...

PS Do you have any socket-set for your car, or puncture kit for your bike? My car is a brown one, manual gear-shift. My bike is old, no gears at all.

This city is flat, except for on the hills. The Orbiter is our bus, it goes round the ring-road, to the uni and other places. There is no Underground. There is a tram and punts, for tourists. And a ferry.

The harbour used to be a volcano's crater.

And you? I know you read is easier than writing. But your writing is good, I know.
Never mind.

Actually I didn't read Andy Law vid carefully before posting.
Never mind, doesn't matter, I didn't 'on purpose'...
I am decent person, like another people.

How is your video-making?

Br SarKOY

I know this one! It's the Julian, of course. Am I right? Now we have the 公历, Gregorian. You are a good teacher.

Maybe you have heard of Qing Ming. It will be a public holiday this year, and also Duanwujie Dragon Boat Festival. Qing Ming is one of the solar terms - they have nice names, I like them.

I said to you 'video-making', it should be computer-programming. Sorry about that.
I make mistake/I am mistaken (which is correct?)

I like your idea about the languages. castellano is a useful language, and maybe easier than English. it's a romance language. english is a hotch-potch. you are a very literate person, I think. Rurik founded Kievan Rus - he might be from Finland. But arabic is more sticky, it has another script. I tried to learn Pitmans shorthand but I was not successful, so good luck!

A Town like Alice Feb 9, 2009

Dear Lingua 5:

You like children's literature, that's great.
Do you mind if I ask, is it your speciality?
And did you read/watch Alice in your language?

I don't know much about Alice,
[just a few characters, and threads, Cheshire Cat, two books,
'off with her head'; 19C stuff, written for a young girl;
supposed to be satire, maybe. ]
or Jabberwocky.
Owl and the Pussycat I like.

Christopher Robin went down with Alice. ... "A soldier's life is terrible hard ..."

About Bosnia, I found out he was an officer in fact, with local staff to help out, mostly ladies, for cleaning and etc. Now he makes cheese at Barry's Bay. 'the men are macho' he said, [comparing with home, I suppose.] Here, 'girls can do anything', and men help in the house. Or so they say. I think you can imagine.
